Fellowships for
Specialist Epilepsy Assistant (EFA) and Specialist Epilepsy Counselor (EFB)

In recent years, additional qualifications have been developed for non-medical health professionals, such as nurses, social workers, physician assistants. As a result, patients with epilepsy feel that they receive better care and counseling. The MICHAEL FOUNDATION provides financial support for the qualification as Specialist Epilepsy Assistant and Specialist Epilepsy Counselor provided by the education and counseling section of the v. Bodelschwingh Foundation Bethel.

The qualification courses Specialist Epilepsy Assistant and Specialist Epilepsy Counselor build on each other.

For people who take part in the Epilepsy Specialist Assistant fellowships program the MICHAEL FOUNDATION covers

  • 50%of the course fees for qualification as an Epilepsy Specialist Assistant

For people who take part in the Specialist Epilepsy Counselor fellowships program the MICHAEL FOUNDATION covers

  • 50% of the course fees for qualification as an Specialist Epilepsy Counselor

For participants in the Epilepsy Specialist Assistant or Specialist Epilepsy Counselor fellowships programs the MICHAEL FOUNDATION also covers

  • 50% of the fees for the basic course of an epilepsy training program (up to a maximum of € 240).
  • 50% of the fees for the advanced course of an epilepsy training program (up to a maximum of € 225).

Travel and accommodation costs will not be covered.

Funding from the foundation is only possible if the application is submitted to the foundation before the start of the course. This applies to qualifications for Specialist Epilepsy Assistant and for Specialist Epilepsy Counselor.

Specialists from the fields of nursing, functional services, therapeutic services (e.g. occupational therapy), education, social work and psychology can apply. The further training should enable them to support and advise those affected and their relatives on special epilepsy questions and to cooperate in a multidisciplinary team. The epileptological, the social and the methodical-didactical competencies of the specialists will be expanded.
